If you look back at some of the posts from the spring, we had some truly Giant sunflowers this year. :) This one was absolutely perfect in every way...and it won first prize at our local Peach Days festival. We were cleaning up our booth the night the fair closed, so it got left in the community center for over a month. Cory was able to retrieve it when he went in last week to reserve a room for a charter meeting. We were able to harvest about a 5 gallon bucket full of sunflower seeds this year. We'll save about a handful to plant....and use the rest as treats for the birds and hampster. :)
We're still getting 7 eggs a day...maybe next year we'll sell them to break even on buying chicken food.

Cory was a good boy and built me an addition to the greenhouse, doubling our greenhouse space. It was something on my list since we are growing more of our own herbs, food plants, and other ornamentals. :)
I'm halfway through the Master Herbalist school. Since starting these classes, we've really changed our way of life, and we're happy about our pathway into being more self sufficient and more healthy. I won't force our way of life on anyone else...but if you are interested in natural ways to heal, I love to talk about it. :)
