The Silver Tooth

I found a dark spot on Emma's back tooth last week while we were flossing. We made an appointment with the dentist, and it turned into quite an adventure! :) The dentist hooked Emma up to the Nitrous and they told me it usually works better when the parents wait outside. :) Outside the room, I could hear Emma laughing up a storm and telling stories and trying to talk while her mouth was being held open. :) It turned out to be a good experience for her because she felt no pain and walked out with a new silver tooth. :) If you ask Emma, she'll tell you that she LOVES laughing gas!!!!

The dentist told me the black spot was deeper than he thought when he first looked at it. He was going to do a simple filling, but it ended up being some kind of root canal on the first tooth with a filling on the tooth behind it. Emma is doing a lot better at reminding her Dad to brush her teeth when I'm not home. :)

Ouch, poor Emma. It sounds like a good experience though. Tymber had 2 spots and we took her in and she cried and cried. So we waited a month and tried again. This went on for a few months. Finally the dentist said we needed to take her the a pediatric dentist. When we did, she was sedated and ended up having 2 root canals and 2 fillings. She did not come out smiling.
